The Khislstein summer theater is the auditorium for concerts and theater activities. It is embraced between the medieval walls and Gorenjski museum, together with the Khislstein 12.56 café, which provides the comfort for the museum and events visitors.

The auditorium, in the shape of an amphitheater, is covered with the retractable fabric roof which enables the events to take place even in bad weather. There are 476 seats and 800 standing positions available.

The tickets for the events at the Khislstein theatre are available at the Eventim selling points, Petrol Stations, Kranjska House, Khislstein 12.65 Cafe, and at the box office of the Khislstein theatre 1 hour prior to the concert.

The name of the café is linked to the year 1256.

That year, Ulrik Spanheimski issued the document in Velikovec, in which the city of Kranj was mentioned for the first time. The document was intended for the Ortenburgs, Counts Henry and Frederick. They were given a property in Kranj to build a fortress. The Ortenburgs, who owned a considerable part of Gorenjska, built the fortress in Kranj in 1256. In the 16th century, it was given the new name– after Janž Khisl, who also expanded it.

The café is intended for people from Kranj and other visitors who want to enjoy a cup of coffee or other drinks in the peaceful castle environment, to the museum visitors and as a support to the events at the Khislstein summer theatre.
